OUR CHILDREN AT CHURCH
At Tickenham, we have a small team that helps support the children’s work in church throughout the year. These consist of activity mornings, learning about life at sea, making rafts and knot boards, learning more about the church, creating lots of art, including beautiful “stained glass windows”, making peppermint creams and coffee creams and orange creams – some rather runnier and less willing to set than others – and making a lovely wreath of hands. We also built a spectacular Santa’s sleigh and recruited several, willing stand-in reindeers. The school services have filled the church to standing room only, especially the end of school year service and at Harvest and Christmas. The Easter Sunday service and Easter egg hunt is always a popular event; Christingle is particularly well attended and a beautiful and moving service. We hold celebration services in Tickenham School every Friday afternoon (at 2:45pm), which are also very popular and involve enthusiastic singing and clapping. Welcoming children and young families will always be a key priority in our church life and it is good for the soul to see the church so enjoyed.
